LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - The ABC13 Team of the Week are the athletes of the Challenged Sports Exchange.

Now in its 26th year, the Challenged Sports Exchange helps individuals with mental or physical challenges stay active. This week, members of the Appomattox Raiders football team, as well as Timberlake Dixie Youth baseball, hit the softball fields to help the Exchange athletes play a fun game of softball. It's an experience that everyone involved says makes a positive impact. Exchange founder Mike Ion says "It's a good feeling for them. They get a little exercise out here, they get their friendship that they're all looking for. And actually, they just want to fit in. They just want to be like everybody else.".

Raiders head coach Doug Smith agrees, saying "Sports is for everybody. These guys do such a great job with this program, and for them to allow us to be a part of it is truly a blessing." While not the first year for Appomattox lending a helping hand with the Exchange, it was a first for many players like incoming freshman Bronson Williams, who said he'll always look at things a little differently. Says Williams "You always change when you get back on that bus. Different things happen. We changed those kids lives, they changed us."

Congrats Challenged Sports Exchange - the ABC13 Team of the Week!
