Magna Vista girls, Northside boys fall in state title games

RICHMOND, Va (WSET) - The Magna Vista girls and Northside boys came up short in their bids for state championships Friday afternoon in Richmond.

Magna Vista led Broadway 17-14 at the half, but the Gobblers rallied to take a two-point lead into the final quarter.

Broadway took charge in the fourth and went on to beat Magna Vista 51-41. Taisha DeShazo had 15 points for the Warriors, who finish the season 21-and-5.

Northside fell to I.C. Norcom 51-41 in the 3A Boys state title game.

The Vikings had a tough first half, scoring just 11 points and trailing the Greyhounds 22-11 at intermission.

Northside rallied in the third and had a chance to cut it to three but missed a three-pointer, Vikings trailed 32-24 heading to the fourth.

Norcom was able to hold off the Vikings to capture its sixth state title in the past eight years.

Northside ends another great season 24-and-6.
