LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - Jordan Hamlette, a senior from Heritage High School, has been named the 2017 Full Court Press Boys "Player of the Year". The award was announced on the season finale of ABC-13's Full Court Press with Dennis Carter and Dave Walls on March 10th.

The Pioneers senior stepped up as a true leader in his senior season, leading the Pioneers to their 4th straight Conference 30 crown.

Hamlette's 23 points per game averaging helped him become just the third Pioneer in history to eclipse 1000 career points, while being named to the All-Region first team, and being named Seminole District player of the year.

When asked what the "Player of the Year" award meant to him, Hamlette says "It's an honor, actually. With all the amazing people in the area that you pick from, to pick me, it's a blessing."

Hamlette's success in the '16-'17 school year came as no surprise to Pioneers head coach Les Camm, who explained "He did what was expected from him. You know, we gave him the reigns last year, as a junior, and he works tremendously hard on and off the court...He led us to where we got at the end of the year."

A leader on the court, but Hamlette quietly says it's his teammates and coaches who pushed him to be the best. "(The coaches) just love the game of basketball. They're kind of like our best friends."

Congratulations to Jordan Hamlette - Our ABC-13 Full Court Press Boys Player of the Year!
