Hannah Young named 2017 Full Court Press Girls "Player of the Year"
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - Hannah Young, a junior at Brookville High School, has been named the 2017 Full Court Press Girls "Player of the Year". The award was announced on the season finale of ABC-13's Full Court Press, hosted by Dennis Carter and Dave Walls, on March 10th.
The junior did it all in the '16-17 season, leading Brookville in scoring, rebounding, blocks and steals, en route to the Bees first-ever region title and berth in the state semifinals. And while taking her game to a new level, the Player of the Year says she's had so much fun this past season, saying "Oh my gosh, we never stop laughing. Literally, we always have inside jokes and you know we're always having fun in practice but we stay focused at the same time." Brookville head coach Warner Dyke agrees, saying "She likes to joke around, play around. Very seldom do you ever see her without a smile on her face and just a sweet girl."
Despite her success on the court, Young remains modest, always talking about the importance of her team and family, saying "I couldn't be here without my teammates, my coaches, my parents, everybody who supports me. So couldn't be here without them."
Hannah Young is ALREADY Brookville's CAREER scoring leader, for either the girls or boys teams, with 1,443 career points. With another season still to go, you can bet Hannah and the Bees will set their sights even higher in the '17-'18 season.
Congratulations to Hannah Young - Our 2017 Full Court Press Girls "Player of the Year"!
