Brookville girls cruise, Hidden Valley and Magna Vista set for 3A Rematch
RICHMOND, Va. (WSET) - The 3A Girls Basketball has plenty of familiar names moving on to the semi finals in Richmond.
The Brookville Bees cruised to a 64-35 win over Warhill in their quarterfinal match at the Siegel Center on the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. Hannah Young led all scorers with 24 points and 13 rebounds in the Bees' win. Senior Megan Dray added 13 points, included 3 big 3-pointers in the first half, while Chelsie Moran added 11. Brookville will face Broadway in the semifinals on Friday evening at 7pm.
Meanwhile, Hidden Valley and Magna Vista will get the semifinal rematch fans have been clamoring for, since meeting in the 2016 state tournament. The Titans (23-5) hung on to defeat a game Tabb Tiger team, 57-54. Senior Drew Freeland led the way with 24 points.
The Warriors, meanwhile, started their quarterfinal match against Hopewell with a 10-0 run, and never looked back, taking the 50-33 win. Moriah Hairston had 18 points for Magna Vista (20-3), while Taisha Deshazo added 13, with Kayla Cabiness added 10.
Magna Vista and Hidden Valley are set for the early semifinal on Friday at the Siegel Center, with a scheduled 3:30pm tipoff.
