Larry Basham named a finalist for Football Friday's "Player of the Year" award
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - William Byrd junior running back Larry Basham has been named a finalist for ABC-13 Football Friday's "Player of the Year" award.
The William Byrd Terriers had plenty of bite in 2016, thanks to the offensive firepower of Basham, accumulating 2,454 rushing yard and 45 TD's. Coach Jeff Highfill and the Terriers took out dangerous opponents left and right all season, including Staunton River. In a muddy, sloppy game, Basham ran like he was on astroturf, powering ahead with 44 carries for 267 yards and two TDs, in the Terriers 26-6 win over the Golden Eagles.
Larry Basham was unavailable for an interview this week. However, we will present him with his plaque at a future date, and post his interview at that time. Congraulations Larry!
