JF Football Players Announce College Plans

Bedford County - Two Jefferson Forest football standouts will continue to play at the next level. JF quarterback Ryan Crist, currently rehabbing from a torn ACL, is headed to Emory & Henry.

And linebacker AJ Zellars has chosen Ferrum, where the Panthers look for him to play at safety, linebacker or a hybrid mix. Zellars plans to major in criminal justice and one day work as an FBI agent.

Ryan Crist, HEADED TO EMORY & HENRY, said "It's a smaller school, I'll do better at a smaller school than with a bunch of students. It just fits me better, the style of offense they've talked about running. It's basically close to the same we run here."

AJ Zellars, HEADING TO FERRUM, said "Closeness to home so my parents are able to see me every time I play. And I just know Ferrum is a good school with the connections afterwards so I'll be able to get a good job when I get out.'
