APPOMATTOX, Va. (WSET) - Appomattox Raiders head football coach Doug Smith officially received the "Most Valuable Coach" award, sponsored by U.S. Cellular.

Smith's Raiders own the longest winning streak in the state of Virginia, currently at 29 games, and will play for a second straight 2A State Championship in Salem this Saturday, against Richlands. The man behind the "Power of One" says the award is not about just him, but rather, "It's the kids and this community deserve it. They've gone through a whole lot. They've come together, and they realize that when you come together, they can do great things. So it's just another affirmation that teamwork works."
