Altavista Football Prepares to Face Haysi

Altavista - The 12-and-1 Altavista Colonels are still playing the first week of December, they've advanced to Saturday's state semifinals.

The Colonels, coming off another lopsided win this past Friday night, take the long trip to southwest Virginia to battle undefeated Haysi Saturday at 2, the Colonels leave Friday and will spend the night in Abingdon. Altavista has shortened practices this week, trying to get plenty of rest before taking on the Tigers.

Mike Scharnus, ALTAVISTA HEAD COACH, said "With Haysi, offensively, we see a lot of formations, most formations we've ever seen by a team. They'll throw all kinds of formations, real big up front, they've got a 2,000 yard passer and a 2,000 yard rusher."
Ashton Robinson, ALTAVISTA SENIOR OL/DL, said "As a team, our mindset is, we've been this way since Little League. You go hard or you go home. And since playoffs are truly crunch time, you lose and you're gonna be a home watching everybody else play."
