Altavista - If you're still practicing on Thanksgiving morning, you've done a lot of things right. The Altavista Colonels were out Thursday morning getting in a workout for Friday night's home game against Franklin, a physical team with plenty of speed. Altavista is hoping to even the score with Franklin. LAST YEAR in this same round of the playoffs, the Colonels had to make the four-hour trip to Franklin and the Broncos ended their season, roughing up Altavista 41-11.Mike Scharnus, ALTAVISTA COLONELS HEAD COACH, said "They beat us pretty good physically, I thought they were a little bit bigger, a little bit stronger than us. And it was a motivation for us in the off-season to work a little harder and hopefully on Friday night will pay dividends."
Clay Teegarden, COLONELS SENIOR OFF./DEF. TACKLE, said "We're definitely playing our best football all season. We just keep getting better, that's one thing coaches preach to us is to keep getting better every week and I think we've pretty much accomplished that every week this season."
Juan Thornhill, COLONELS JUNIOR QUARTERBACK/DEF. BACK, said "They gave us a good whooping 41-11, I'll always remember that game. And I'm ready to play."Franklin and Altavista kick off at 7 Friday night in Altavista.
