Veteran Virginia 10 Miler runner Bill Draper dies at 89
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - Bill Draper, the only person to run in the first 41 Virginia 10 Milers, died recently at age 89.
Draper, who lived in New Jersey but actually grew up in Blackstone, Virginia ran every Virginia 10 Miler from the race's first year in 1974 through 2014.
His streak ended only after recovering from a stroke. He ran into his mid-80s. Area runner Steve Bozeman said he'll run his 42nd 10 Miler this September in Draper's honor.
