Richard Petty to serve as Grand Marshal for VIR racing Sunday
ALTON, Va. (WSET) - Racing returns to VIR this weekend with the IMSA SportsCar championship.
The weekend offers a variety of races, from Porsches and Lamborghinis, to the open wheel Michelin GT Challenge finale on Sunday.
NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty will be the Grand Marshal Sunday.
It's a track "The King" is familiar with, as he raced at VIR in 1966.
Mike Rose, Marketing Director, VIR Raceway, said "He and I think it was Cale Yarborough had a really big accident in one section of the track that we actually call 'NASCAR Bend" affectionately all these years later. And he very consciously remembers that."
Tickets and more information are available now in the sports section of the ABC 13 App.
