Noah Gragson wins Texas Roadhouse 200 trucks race at Martinsville
MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WSET) - 19-year-old rookie Noah Gragson passed Matt Crafton on a restart with less than 10 laps to go and Gragson held on to win the Texas Roadhouse 200 trucks race at Martinsville Speedway.
It's Gragson's first victory in 22 Camping World Trucks Series races.
Crafton would settle for second with Johnny Sauter third, 17-year-old Harrison Burton fourth and Todd Gilliland rounding out the top five.
Crafton won the opening 50-lap stage with Sauter easily winning the second.
Sauter looked like the driver to beat at that point until a slow pit stop at the end of the stage sent him tumbling seven spots.
Playoff driver John Hunter Nemechek, who entered Saturday’s race fourth in points, lost his brakes and hit hard into the outside wall between turns one and two on lap 39. The 20-year-old finished 30th and will likely have to win one of the next two races to keep his championships hopes alive.
Christopher Bell finished eighth and saw his points lead drop to just three over Sauter.
