Lynchburg Post 16 beats Rocky Mount 9-6 in American Legion opener

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - Lynchburg Post 16 played its American Legion season opener Wednesday night against Rocky Mount. Two-run homers by Taylor Fisher and Kyle Parker helped stake Lynchburg to a nice lead.

Connor Epperson pitched three innings for Post 16, striking out five after Luke Bryant fanned seven the first four innings.

Later for Rocky Mount, Will Turner strikes out the batter, Bailey Hall fires down to second to nail the runner, strike 'em out, throw 'em out.

Down to its last chance, Rocky Mount did score twice in the seventh inning.

But it's not enough.

Post 16 wins 9-6, Lynchburg plays at Alleghany Friday night at 7.
