Local kickboxer Matt Coleman preparing for big fight late this month

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - A local kickboxer is preparing to step into the national spotlight later this month.

Matt Coleman, who grew up in Forest, will compete at Foxwoods Casino on April 28th in "Lion Fights 36" against Boston product Chip Pollard.

The fight will be broadcast live on AXS (axis) TV.

Coleman has been training for 10 years, but got the call to fight the highly touted Pollard to fight on just 6 weeks notice.

Matt Coleman, Muay Thai Fighter, said "He's Boston's next big thing, he's undefeated, so it's a big challenge. When I got the call 6 weeks ago, I couldn't say no. I'm a little bit of a counter fighter, and I like to throw power. I'm excited, I'm ready, and I hope to not disappoint!"

Buffalo Wild Wings in Lynchburg will host a viewing party for those looking to cheer Coleman on, that date again a week from this Friday, April 28th.
