John Patterson L.C.A. Basketball Camp draws big numbers

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - The gym has been jumpin' all this week at Liberty Christian Academy!

Nearly 200 campers are taking part in the 13th-annual John Patterson Liberty Christian Academy Basketball Day Camp.

Boys and girls, ages 6 through 15, learning more about basketball and sharpening their skills.

The camp focuses on character and team concepts in a fun atmosphere.

When they wrap up Thursday, Patterson wants all of his campers to have taken away four principles...listening, encouragement, attitude and discipline which make up the word LEAD.

John Patterson, LCA SUPERINTENDENT/CAMP DIRECTOR, said "Parents tell us that their kids come home and they're more respectful. In fact, some parents wish their kids could do this all summer. We're not open for business all summer, just one week. But certainly, we see our kids developing in their maturity and godly character."

Lauren Hartless, 10-YEAR-OLD CAMPER (5TH YEAR AT CAMP), said "It's a lot of fun because we get to do at the end of the day we get to do "go for it." And you can win a lot of prizes if you make the shots."
