Chase Elliott excited about the change to #9 in 2018
CHARLOTTE, NC (WSET) - One of NASCAR's big storylines this year is Chase Elliott moving from the 24 Chevrolet to the number 9 Chevy.
Elliott has seven runner-up finishes in his first two Cup seasons, including five last year. He's been so close to that first win, like at Martinsville in October.
He's winless in 76 Cup starts. It took his dad Bill 124 starts to get that first win in the number 9, Chase says it's a special opportunity to drive the number 9.
Chase Elliott, 7 RUNNER-UP CUP FINISHES, said "You know it's a number I have a lot of history with and have a championship with it in the Xfinity Series and all my short track days are all in the 9 and you know it's the number that I first started racing go-karts with. So my favorite number by far and you know it feels right for me."
