Boonsboro CC hosts Awareness Garden Golf Classic
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - Beautiful day for golf Monday, more than 100 men and women playing for a great cause in the 13th-annual Awareness Garden Golf Classic at Boonsboro. Lynchburg's Janis Scharf had a hole-in-one at the par-3 17th.
Special guest and participant in the Classic was Corey Nagy of Charlotte, who will compete next season on the web.com pro tour.
Money from the Classic helps fund education outreach programs, scholarships for students who've been affected by cancer or are pursuing a career in the field, and to keep the Garden in excellent condition for the community.
Malcolm Sydnor, AWARENESS GARDEN FOUNDATION, said "To give solace to those who are being affected. And it's not a cemetery, it is a happy place. We've had weddings, we've had birthday parties and it's just a beautiful place to be."
