Beamer headlines new Virginia Sports Hall of Fame class
PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WSET) - Legendary Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer headlines the 2018 induction class for the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame.
Beamer, who retired in 2015 after 29 years guiding the Hokies, was elected in his first year of eligibility. He guided the Hokies to bowl games his final 23 seasons and piled up 280 career wins, 238 with Tech.
Beamer is joined in the new Hall of Fame class by former college and pro stars Rick Mahorn, Michael Cuddyer and Thomas Jones.
Also, Kara Lawson, Chuck Hartman, Megan Silva Shultz and Roanoke Times sportswriter Doug Doughty.
