Beamer, 7 others elected to Virginia Sports Hall of Fame
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WSET) - Legendary Hokies football coach Frank Beamer headlines the 2018 induction class for the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame.
Beamer is elected to the Hall in his first year of eligibility. He guided the Hokies to bowl games his final 23 seasons, piling up 280 career wins, 238 at Tech before retiring after the 2015 season.
Bryan Randall, FORMER HOKIES QUARTERBACK, said "You know he's a very humble guy and like I was saying that, you know, he would thank all the people around him, you know, for helping to get where he has gotten. But he needs to take some of the credit as well. And I've had the honor of playing for him and I'm just happy to see him get this honor."
Beamer is joined in the new Hall of Fame class by former college and pro stars Rick Mahorn, Michael Cuddyer and Thomas Jones.
Also, Kara Lawson, Chuck Hartman, Megan Silva Shultz and Roanoke Times sportswriter Doug Doughty, boy that's a young Doug right there! Induction weekend is April 6th and 7th in Virginia Beach.
