Police charge eighth suspect in alleged gang-related slaying in Virginia
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (ABC7) — Police have arrested a man in connection with the murder of a 21-year-old man in Jan. 2017 in Dumfries, Virginia. In February, police stated the slaying was linked to the MS-13 street gang.
Prince William County Police say Dimas Misael Canales Santos, 27, of Hyattsville, Maryland was arrested on charges of murder and conspiracy to commit a felony after Santos turned himself into Prince George's County Police on Friday.
Santos is the eighth suspect to be arrested in the murder of 21-year-old Christian Alexander Sosa Rivas of Fairfax, was found last month on the banks of the Potomac River near Dumfries.
In February 2017, suspect, Jose Castillo Rivas, 18, of Springfield, was arrested in Lynchburg in connection to Sosa Rivas' death as well.
Police also say that Rivas' death is connected to the murder of 15-year-old Damaris Reyes Rivas of Gaithersburg, Maryland. Fairfax County Police have charged 10 people in connection with her death.
Police say the eighth suspect, Santos is incarcerated in Maryland and will be extradited back to Virginia.
