Husband found dead after wife searches 'how to kill someone and not get caught'
MAYPEARL, TX. (WSET) -- According to reports, a woman from Maypearl Texas was arrested in connection with the murder of her husband on January 2.
The Waxahachie Daily Light reports that a search warrant executed at the residence resulted in officials finding a small caliber projectile in a pillowcase in the master bedroom.
According to Maypearl Police Chief Boyd Norton, the pillowcase was found in proximity to her husband's body. The search also resulted in the seizure of multiple electronic devices.
It was discovered that Jon's wife, Sandra Louise Garner, had recently searched, "how to kill someone and not get caught," on one of the devices.
On the day of the murder, Garner called police to report that Jon had been shot. In her call, she told police that she was awakened by two gunshots and saw a masked man holding a gun and flashlight inside the residence.
She then told authorities that the masked man told her that he was not there to harm her but that he had a grudge against her husband because of work-related matters.
Police Chief Norton said Garner told investigators that she was instructed to open their home safe and give the intruder $18,000. She also said that she was told to go into the bathroom and count to 100 until the intruder left the residence.
She stated that he threatened to come back and kill her if she did not.
The Department of Public Safety found that the bullets that killed Jon Garner matched bullets found in a .38-caliber pistol that was wrapped in a paper towel inside two plastic bags in Sandra Garner's Ford Mustang.
Following the investigation, Sandra was arrested on January 10.
According to the Ellis County Sheriff's Office, she faces a murder charge and is being held on a $2 million bond.
