Woman charged for dragging officer, running across his legs after he tried to arrest her
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - A woman accused of running over and dragging a police officer in Barrow County, Georgia has been arrested.
Authorities announced that arrest of Jessica Fox, 28, Tuesday morning. She had been on the run for several days, according to police.
Dash Cam video shows Statham Police Officer, Marc Lofton trying to make stop on Dooley Town Road Saturday afternoon. Lofton said he clocked Fox's car going nearly 15 miles and hour over the posted speed limit.
The Chief posted on the police department's Facebook page that Fox, during the attempted arrest, physically resisted and an altercation placed in her car as she attempted to drive off.
Fox dragged Officer Lofton with the drivers door open and then she ran across both legs by the back left wheel, according to the post. Fox fled the scene in the vehicle which was recovered later. Officer Lofton was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
The Chief of the Statham Police Department wrote, "I am extremely proud of his performance in this incident, he rose up defying the odds in a professional manner. The officers of this department are My guys! I am responsible to ensure they're trained up, safe and equipped and to be there if they just need to talk. I love Em and would give my life for any of them anytime without hesitation. So yes our bond is thick! Thank you to all the citizens who support and have supported so awesomely during this incident. We are thankful to serve such a community."
