Weekend rain to dampen commencement activities

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - Virginia isn't out of the wet weather just yet.

Friday will be cool and cloudy with occasional rain showers in the morning.

Temperatures for the heart of Virginia will only reach the mid-50's Friday afternoon.

Rain is possible at any part of Friday, but will become more widespread and heavier by Friday evening.

That heavier rain will continue into early Saturday morning.

Rain totals between one to two inches are possible, with locally higher amounts.

The heart of Virginia is under an areal flood watch until noon on Saturday.

Speaking of Saturday, commencement ceremonies don't look dry, but the rain is expected to be light.

Temperatures for commencements at 10 a.m. are expected to be 56 degrees.

The rain should taper off Saturday afternoon, and temperatures will warm up to the mid-60's.
