Police: Man seriously injured in Route 40 crash near Gretna
PITTSYLVANIA Co., Va. (WSET) - State Police say a 19-year-old was seriously injured in a crash on Route 40 near Gretna at 6:40 a.m. Friday.
According to police, the teen was driving along Route 40 when he crossed the center line and hit a tractor trailer head-on near Route 672.
Police say the tractor trailer then collided into another tractor trailer and a pickup truck.
Officials had to close Route 40 and it was closed for several hours.
VDOT has set up a detour onto Route 935, onto Route 672 and back onto Route 40.
According to State Police, the car and the pickup truck have been removed from the scene.
They say crews are working to move the first tractor trailer and prevent a fuel spill.
As of 10:58 a.m., Route 40 was open to traffic.
