Residents: Woman lit house on fire after argument with boyfriend
DANVILLE, Va. (WSET) - Three people are displaced after a fire damaged their Danville home, and the Fire Marshal is investigating it as arson.
Officials say they got the call at 11:57 p.m. Sunday to the 700 block of Dame Street.
The first arriving units reported heavy fire and smoke coming from the one-story house, according to the fire department.
According to officials, everyone had made it out of the house safely, and no injuries were reported.
"They just light a fire, repercussions can be very bad, in this case there were people home, thankful to God we were blessed that no one got hurt," said Danville Fire Dept. Fire Marshal, Shelby Irving.
The Fire Department says the blaze was under control at 12:17 a.m. Monday.
Officials say the house had heavy fire and smoke damage.
The Red Cross is helping the three occupants by providing temporary housing.
The Fire Marshal's office is investigating because the fire "was incendiary in nature."
Residents say that a woman living in the home set it on fire after getting into a dispute with her boyfriend.
