The snow has ended, now threat of icy roads overnight into Tuesday morning
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- The snow is over, but the threat of winter weather still remains in our area.
A winter weather advisory remains in effect until midnight Tuesday for Lynchburg, southward to Danville and points east.
The snow showers tapered off around 6 p.m. for most of the area Monday evening.
Lynchburg accumulated around four and a half inches of snow, Bedford saw about the same, while Danville and other southern areas saw less than three inches.
The story now is the threat of refreezing.
We're also watching the threat of gusty breezes on Tuesday.
Overnight skies will be clearing, but the winds will be increasing. So, with the heavy wet snow that has accumulated on the trees and power lines, a few power outages and downed trees are possible.
Temperatures with the clear skies and snow pack should reach the lower to middle 20's.
Tuesday brings sunshine, although breezy, and temperatures will reach the mid to upper 40's.
We're also looking to temperatures in the 60's for the weekend, although rain chances may return.
