Super Dollar Discount Foods in Lynchburg to close Feb. 9
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- A local grocery store is closing its doors next month, according to the corporate office.
K-VA-T Food Stores corporate said a press release was sent out Thursday to stores that were closing.
The Super Dollar Discount Foods on Memorial Avenue's Pittman Plaza in Lynchburg will officially close on Friday, February 9, according to K-VA-T Food Stores, whose headquarters are in Abingdon.
There are 10 Super Dollar stores in the country, it's not clear if any of the other stores are closing.
K-VA-T Food Stores began in 1955 when the company founder opened his first Piggly Wiggly in Grundy.
The Super Dollar stores were first opened in 2008 under the name Super Dollar Discount Foods.
It's not clear how this closure will impact the employees who are currently working at the Super Dollar Discount Foods store in Lynchburg; the person in charge of marketing at K-VA-T Food City was not available for comment.
