Police: 16-year-old Bedford Co. girl dead after crash in Campbell Co.
CAMPBELL CO., VA (WSET) -- State police say a 16-year-old girl from Bedford County is dead and charges are pending after a single-vehicle crash in Campbell County.
The crash happened at 1:15 p.m. this afternoon on Route 29, less than a half mile north of Hyland Drive.
Police say a soft-top Jeep Wrangler ran off the left side of the highway and into the median, then hit a culvert and overturned at least three times.
The four people in the car were ejected from the car, and only one of the passengers was wearing a seatbelt.
The driver, an 18-year-old male from Evington, Va. and three other teenage passengers were taken to Lynchburg General Hospital to treat serious injuries.
One of the passengers was the 16-year-old girl who later succumbed to her injuries. The other three occupants are facing non-life threatening injuries.
State police are investigating the crash.
