Snow showers this morning, watching for weekend winter weather
We’re waking up this morning to a lot of clouds. Eventually a area of low pressure will pinwheel through here and provide our westernmost counties with some snow showers, no accumulation. The rest of us could see a few showers this morning, east of the parkway. Sunshine returns this afternoon.. along with the winds.
This afternoon following the brief morning showers/snow showers, the sunshine returns in full force. As the system scoots out to sea, and ramps into a major nor’easter for them, we will get another rounds of winds to deal with for this afternoon lasting through Friday. Nothing major, but may be enough to trigger wind advisories in the mountains tomorrow. Highs today in the upper 40s to the lower 50s. Winds could gust as high as 20mph, higher on the ridgetops.
Clearing skies return tonight, it’s still breezy. Lows return to the middle to upper 20s.
Partly Cloudy on Thursday and Friday. A few upslope snow showers may try to spill over into the NRV on Thursday. It’s still breezy both days. Highs in the upper 40s.
Then, we watch for the weekend.
Saturday is a dry day, until the evening when clouds will arrive. Any winter weather should wait until overnight Saturday and Sunday before it starts.
If we were to get winter weather, it would occur on Sunday.
Some models want to put the center of the yet to develop area of low pressure over North Carolina, that would spell more snow for us.
Others want to put it much farther south which would mean less snow for us. Therefore, each model is also spitting out a wide range for potential amounts.
Bottom line: it’s too early to discuss. We’ll continue to keep an eye on new data.
