Winter Storm Warning... 3" to 6" totals across Southside
Snow will increase across the Heart of Virginia overnight, and many of us will wake up to falling snow by Wednesday morning.
Most local snow totals will range from 0.5" to 3." Amounts will increase south and east of Lynchburg. Totals will decrease west of Lynchburg toward Bedford and Roanoke.
The heaviest snow will fall Wednesday morning with many locations receiving occasional to steady snow throughout the morning. Snow begins between Wednesday 3am and Wednesday 7am for most.
Snow will taper off in the Lynchburg and Roanoke area by late morning, and snow will persist across Southside during the afternoon. Snowfall amounts could exceed 3" across Southside. (Check the map on wset.com for specific totals.)
Nearly all commuters will deal with snowy roads for the Wednesday morning drive to work. Widespread school delays and cancellations will occur.
School delays and cancellations are also possible Thursday morning in areas where snow remains on the roads-- Southside will be most likely for delays and cancellations.
All local snow ends by Wednesday night.
