Man wanted on attempted malicious wounding charges has been arrested

UPDATE Monday, April 9, 8:48 p.m.

The Pittsylvania County Sheriff's office says Skinner is in custody at the Pittsylvania County Jail.

Skinner will go through the booking process and go before a magistrate before his first court appearance will be schedule.d

UPDATE 8:48 p.m.

The Pittsylvania County Sheriff's office says Skinner is facing the following charges:

  • Attempted malicious wounding
  • Shooting into occupied dwelling
  • Possession of firearm while being a convicted felon
  • Use of firearm in commission of a felony

UPDATE: 11:15 a.m.

The Pittslyvania County Sheriff's Office said Skinner is wanted after a report of a disturbance.

The sheriff's office said the 911 center got the report from the Kentuck area around 4 p.m. Thursday, April 5.

When deputies got to the scene, Skinner had fled.

Investigators said they have probable cause that resulted in felony warrants being obtained for him for firearm-related violations and other criminal charges.

They said they released a BOL for him shortly after it was determined he had fled the scene and was allegedly in possession of multiple firearms.

Sometime overnight, the sheriff's office said deputies located and seized Skinner's vehicle that he was reportedly in when he left the scene.

Skinner is still at large and still considered to be armed and dangerous.

PITTSYLVANIA Co., Va. (WSET) -- The Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office is seeking assistance from the public on the whereabouts of John Calvin Skinner III.

They said Skinner is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information regarding Skinner's whereabouts is asked to call the Pittslyvania County Sheriffs Office at (434)-432-7931.

There is also an award for up to $1,000 if information leads to arrest and conviction by calling Pittsylvania Crime Stoppers at 1-800-791-0044.
