Sheriff: Man, woman arrested for motel meth lab in Franklin Co.
FRANKLIN, Co. (WSET) -- The Franklin County Sheriff's Office is investigating a possible meth lab located at the Hometown Inn at 18059 Virgil Goode Hwy in Rocky Mount.
At around 4:30 p.m on January 9, deputies say they were investigating the odor of marijuana coming from a room at the motel.
They say when deputies went to secure the room, the resident of the room assaulted the officers. Following, the room was secured and a meth lab was discovered.
According to law enforcement officials, Henry Eric Routon and Brittany Danielle Nichols were both arrested and face charges related to the meth lab.
Routon, 43, of Callaway, Virginia is charged with assault on law enforcement, obstruction of justice, possess drug paraphernalia, manufacture methamphetamine, and possession of schedule II drug - methamphetamine.
Nichols, 30, of Moneta, Virginia is charged with possess drug paraphernalia and possession of schedule II drug - methamphetamine.
They say Routon is currently being held without bond. Nichols is being held on a $1,000.00 secured bond.
The Virginia State Police Clan lab team assisted in clean up of the scene. This is an ongoing investigation.
