AMHERST Co., Va. (WSET) -- The Amherst County Sheriff’s Office has made several arrests related to methamphetamine possession over the past 24 hours.

On Tuesday, the sheriff's office says deputies stopped Anthony Charles Simpson, 28, of Gladstone and arrested him on several charges including: Probation Violations, Driving Suspended, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

In addition, his passenger, Hope Marlene Jessup, 23, was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance.

Around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, the sheriff's office says deputies executed a search warrant for narcotics at 582 River Road in Madison Heights.

They made the following arrests:

  • Donald Kenneth Bray Jr., 40, Madison Heights
  • Julie Argenbright Burgess, 41, Madison Heights
  • Courtney Grace Baldock, 21, Madison Heights

All were charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.

In addition, investigators say the home had been serving as a “trap house” - a location where methamphetamine was being consumed, stored, and distributed. At least an ounce of meth had been sold from the home in the previous 24 hours, according to the sheriff's office.

Authorities say additional charges may be pending as this investigation continues.

All the individuals were arrested without incident and transported to the Amherst Adult Detention Center.

Sheriff Viar is asking residents to report suspected illegal drug activity to the Drug Tip Line at 434-946-7585.
