LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- The Lynchburg Police Department said a woman has been arrested for stealing from a local Walgreens.

Police said officers responded to the Walgreens on Wards Road around 8 a.m. Friday, May 25 after a woman leaving the store set off the doorway theft sensors.

When officers got there, they said Lisa White, 49, was near the store.

After being confronted, police said White attempted to flee on foot and ran across the parking lot toward the Kroger and dropped the stolen items as she ran.

Police said she was quickly arrested by officers and taken into custody.

White has been charged with grand larceny, obstruction, and providing a false name to officers.

She is currently being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail.
