Police: Va. woman drove drunk with child in the car, hit two pedestrians at Walmart
HENRICO Co., Va. (WSET) -- A Henrico County woman is facing multiple charges after police said she drove drunk with a child in the car and hit a pedestrian on New Year's Day.
Police said officers responded to Walmart on W. Broad Street around 2:30 p.m. after a 911 caller said a pedestrian had been hit in the parking lot.
The victim told police that a vehicle hit shopping carts, that ended up hitting him.
Police said witnesses attempted to keep the alleged driver, Christine Bradford Perkins, 41, at the scene but she ended up hitting one of the witnesses with her car and then fled the area, according to police.
Witnesses told police what vehicle Perkins was driving and officers located her and a child on Castile Drive, about five miles away.
Police said further investigation led them to charge Perkins with driving under the influence, two counts of hit and run, child neglect, vandalism, assault, obstruction of justice, and assault on a law enforcement officer.
They said both pedestrians had minor injuries.
