Police: Va. teacher, coach facing sexual assault charges
FLOYD Co., Va. (WSET) -- A Floyd County man has been arrested on charges including taking indecent liberties while in a custodial role involving a minor and aggravated sexual battery.
Police said Jason O. Dalton, 37, of Floyd, was arrested Friday by special agents with State Police in Floyd County.
They said the charges stem from an investigation by the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation's, Salem's Field Office beginning in March, 2017 after sexual assault allegations made against him.
The dates of the alleged incidents are 2004 and 2008.
According to the Floyd County Public School's website, Dalton is a P.E. teacher at Floyd County High School and the girls' basketball coach.
Dalton is being held at the New River Valley Regional Jail under no bond.
The Floyd County superintendent said Dalton has been on administrative leave since March, but now that he's been indicted state law mandates he be suspended without pay.
