Police: Two-vehicle crash on Route 460 leaves 63-year-old man dead

BOTETOURT Co., Va. (WSET) -- Virginia State Police said it's investigating a two-vehicle crash that left a 63-year-old man dead.

Police said troopers responded to the crash on Tuesday, January 30 around 6 p.m. on Route 460 at the intersection with Hillcrest Drive in Botetourt County.

Police said George Thomas Martin, Jr., 63, of Blue Ridge failed to yield the right of way while making a left turn onto Hillcrest Drive and was hit by another vehicle.

Martin was wearing his seatbelt and was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital for life-threatening injuries.

The other vehicle's driver was identified as Martin Erwin, 57, of Birmingham, Alabama.

Police said Erwin was also wearing his seatbelt and was not injured.

Martin, unfortunately, passed away from his injuries on Monday, February 5.

The crash remains under investigation.
