Police: Suspect wanted after stealing medication from local pharmacy
MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WSET) -- The Martinsville Police Department is looking for multiple people they said robbed a pharmacy early Tuesday morning.
Police said officers responded to Cavalier Pharmacare on S. Memorial Boulevard around 7:20 a.m. in reference to a break-in.
They said an investigation determined the break-in happened early Tuesday morning and the suspects took medication. They are looking for at least two people.
Police said the exact details and value of the items taken are not being released at this time as the information is pertinent to the investigation. They also can't tell us how much medication the burglars got away with, saying they are working with the pharmacy to figure out just how much is missing.
"It is disheartening to the police department to know that the pharmacy was broken into and with the opioid crisis across our nation actually it does bring attention to the pharmaceutical business and the opioid crisis that we're having," said Lt. Sandy Hines.
The Martinsville Police Dept. said it's working in conjunction with other local jurisdictions in trying to locate a dark colored SUV, possibly a Dodge Durango, that may be linked to the investigation.
