Police: Hotel employee shot at after car set on fire by improvised incendiary device
UPDATE: 4:25 p.m.
The Danville Police Department said officers responded to the hotel around 9:24 a.m. after the hotel receptionist called to report that a vehicle was on fire in the parking lot.
When she went outside, shots were fired in her direction.
Police said there were no injuries.
Once officers got to the scene, police said they found a vehicle with burn marks from improvised incendiary devices.
Police said there was debris scattered nearby and collected for evidence and additional evidence was recovered and a K-9 team was called in to track.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
DANVILLE, Va. (WSET) -- Danville Police responded to a hotel on Piney Forest Road in Danville Friday morning to investigate a potential crime scene.
Investigators were at Astoria Hotel working to get surveillance video captured on camera.
Right now, they said they were called after a report of shots fired.
Officials said the receptionist was responding to a car that was on fire in the parking lot and shortly after that the receptionist heard shots fired.
They said when police arrived the car was no longer on fire, but they could see burn marks on the car.
Police have not provided any information on a victim or a possible shooter.
