Police: Nine arrested, so far, in drug bust operation in Central Virginia

AMHERST Co., Va. (WSET) -- The Amherst County Sheriff's Office has arrested more people as they continue their operations to combat drug activity in the county and Central Virginia area.

Friday morning, law enforcement from Amherst County, Campbell County, and Nelson County began actively searching for 23 individuals wanted on 53 indictments for various drug violations.

As of 3:45 p.m., nine people had been taken into custody as part of Operation River Walk.

Desmond Lamont Jackson, 32, Lynchburg, charged with distribution of a controlled substance and distribution of drugs on or near school property.

Michael Dale Padgett, 33, Madison Heights, charged with distribution of a controlled substance and distribution of drugs on or near school property.

James Norman Mullens III, 50, Madison Heights, charged with distribution of a controlled substance and distribution of drugs on or near school property.

Malma Timothy Farmer, 56, Halifax, charged with distribution of a controlled substance.

Amanda Gail Green-Goodman, 32, Rustburg, charged with possession of a schedule I/II substance.

Cody Wade Mcgann, 20, Evington, charged with possession of a schedule I/II substance.

Gary Keith Carter, 32, Shipman, charged with two counts of distribution of a controlled substance and two counts of distribution of drugs on or near school property.

Donald Gerald Coles, 23, Arrington, charged with possession of a schedule I/II substance.

Ernest Wayne Shifflett, 22, Madison Heights, charged with possession of a schedule I/II substance.

The individuals have been taken to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail.
