Police: Lynchburg man charged with murder after providing heroin to woman who overdosed
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- The Lynchburg Police Department arrested a man indicted for murder after an overdose call back in November.
Police said they responded to the call at the Sterling Park Townhomes on Old Forest Road on November 19, 2016.
They said the victim, Carrie Catherine Joshlyn, 40, of Lynchburg was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital where she later died.
An investigation was conducted into what lead to her death and as a result, police said it was determined that her death was related to a heroin drug overdose; further investigation revealed that the alleged individual who provided the heroin to Joshlyn was Darius Terrell Payne, 27, of Lynchburg.
Payne has been indicted on charges of felony murder and possession with intent to distribute heroin.
Payne was located and arrested on Thursday and taken to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail where he is being held without bond, according to police.
