Police identify woman found dead in wooded area near bank in Martinsville
UPDATE 9:30 p.m.
Martinsville Police identified the body of the woman as Katherine White Likens, 53, of Martinsville.
Her body has been taken to the Medical Examiner's Office in Roanoke for evidence collection and to determine the official cause of death.

MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WSET) -- Martinsville Police have discovered a body in a wooded area near the BB&T Bank on Elsworth Street and Clevelan Avenue.
Chief Eddie Cassady said the body is of a middle-aged woman.
They have identified the woman, but are not releasing her name until they have notified the next of kin.
Chief Cassady said the body was found around 4:25 p.m. and they secured the area around it and wrapped up right around 7:45 p.m.
It is a very active investigation and officers are currently conducting interviews; right now it is being treated as a homicide until it is ruled otherwise.
Chief Cassady said there is no public safety concerns.
