FOREST, Va. (WSET) -- State Police say the operator of a backhoe that collided with a train on Friday has been charged.

Police charged 58-year-old Alge Wilson Brandon with reckless driving.

Police said on Saturday that Brandon is doing extremely well for what he went through.

Brandon was driving the backhoe down Bellevue Rd. when he lost control and went over the bridge, according to State Police. The backhoe landed on the side of the tracks and the Amtrak train was too close to call and stop it.
