69-year-old driver killed after tanker truck hits icy patch, crashes in Nelson County
UPDATE: 2:45 p.m.
Virginia State Police said a 69-year-old man was killed in the accident on Monday, February 5 on Tye River Road in Nelson County.
They said troopers responded to the crash in the Gladstone community around 9:40 a.m.
Police said Andrew Woodson, 69, of Shipman was driving when he lost control of the truck when it hit an icy patch in the road. He ended up running off the right side of the highway, overturned, and hit a tree.
Woodson died at the scene and was not wearing a seatbelt.
Police said there was no leakage of the tanker's load of kerosene.
NELSON Co., Va. (WSET) -- A driver has died after an accident on Tye River Road in Nelson County, according to officials on the scene.
The Lovingston Fire Department said a single axle straight truck with a tank on it, carrying kerosene, overturned after sliding on ice.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
