Man to get free dentures after ABC 13 airs story
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- If you need your faith in humanity restored, here's another one for the record books.
Lewis Bowles with Service Dental Laboratory in Lynchburg has worked in the denture-making business for nearly 50 years, and in the business of helping others all his life.
He saw our story about Golden Corral customer James Adams, who lost his dentures on Easter and decided to take action.
"I will donate the gentleman a set of teeth free of charge. We do work for other organizations throughout the state," said Bowles, also referencing Donated Dental Services, which helps provide qualified elderly and fixed-income people with free dental work through local dentists and technicians who volunteer their services.
"We're nothing but an instrument of God, and He guides our hand," Bowles said.
ABC 13 was more than glad to share the news with Mr. Adams. "That's awesome. And I thank the Lord for him. I really do," he said.
Now, the hunt is on for a dentist to do the prep work.
"It says a lot about people who will go that extra mile for you, because you don't see that often," said Adams' friend Shirley Bradley.
The kind gesture is already giving him something to smile about. "I thank him from the bottom of my heart," Adams said.
In the meantime, friends and family are planning to set up GoFundMe page on his behalf, through which Golden Corral has offered to contribute funds toward the new dentures.
