Man charged with arson in connection to Thursday vehicle fire
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - A man is facing charges after a Thursday morning car fire in Lynchburg.
The Fire Marshal's office isn't releasing the man's identity, but says he is charged with arson to private property above $200.
Dispatch says they got several calls about the fire Thursday morning on 17th Street near Monroe Street.
Neighbors reported the man set his own car on fire.
"Where the car had caught on fire, it was near the gas tank, so I already knew that could turn out to be a bad situation. We've never had no real problem about him but he's known to set stuff on fire," Jermaine Haskins, a neighbor who witnessed the car fire, said.
The Fire Marshal says the man will be arraigned Friday morning.
