Lynchburg Veterans Day parade honors local heroes
Hundreds came out to be in and watch the parade that started at DeMoss Hall on Liberty University's campus and continued to Route 460.
Almost 250 vets participated and 100 others volunteered their time to make the parade happen.
The Lynchburg Area Veterans Council said the event was important, as such a parade hasn't been held since 1938.
"Since 1938 we've not had one here and I think for our first one, I think it went surprsingly well. There were a few glitches but everyone pulled together and I think it came off pretty well," parade coordinator Thomas Currant said.
Event organizers say they hope to make the parade an annual tradition again, and that it will be warmer next year.
