Heavy rain, storms impact Central Virginia Monday

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - It will be important to have the rain gear on Monday in the Heart of Virginia.

There will be rounds of rain which can be heavy at times throughout the day.

There is also the potential for a few stronger storms.

The Storm Prediction Center has put most of our area in the Marginal risk for severe weather, which is a one out of five.

A slight risk, or two out of five, has been issued for the eastern parts of our area including Charlotte County, Halifax County, Appomattox County, and Prince Edward County.

Main threats for those storms include damaging winds, lightning, and heavy rain.

There is a continued chance of rain and storms into tonight, with the chance for rain lessening into Tuesday.

Temperatures today will be below average, holding into the upper 70's and lower 80's.
