Halifax Co. School Board proposes additional $1.1 million for 2018-19 budget
HALIFAX Co., Va. (WSET) - The Halifax County School Board said they need an additional $1.1 million for their 2018-2019 budget.
Superintendent Mark Lineburg presented the current budget proposals Wednesday at a school board meeting at Halifax County High School.
The budget priorities include a 2% raise for all staff and a teacher scale compression, as well as requests for mandatory maintenance, staffing requirements, and upgrades for equipment and transportation.
Proposed cuts include closing Cluster Springs Early Learning Center and cutting seven teachers.
The deadline for the budget to be submitted to the Board of Supervisors is March 30.
